FIFA World Cup 2022: Richarlison brace gives Brazil 2-0 win over Serbia; scores a stunner | XtraTime

Xtra Time Web Desk: Richarlison scored two goals, the second with a bi-cycle kick as Brazil beat Serbia 2-0 in Group G fixture of FIFA World Cup 2022 at Lusail Iconic Stadium on Thursday. The Tottenham Hotspur striker scored in the 63’ and 74’ minutes respectively.

The five-time champions found it hard to break the deadlock in the first half due to some tight defending by the Serbs. Five-time champions Brazil got the first goal in the 63rd minute. Vinicius Junior fired a low shot at the goal. Serbian goalkeeper Milinkovic gets down to stop it but can only pop the ball up for Richarlison to put it in.

Richarlison was once again on target in the 74th minute. After receiving the ball inside the Serbian box with two defenders marking him, he tees it up over his head with his first touch, spins and then fires in a wonderful bicycle kick to put Brazil 2-0 ahead. It will definitely be an early contender for the goal of the tournament.

Richarlison became the eighth Brazilian to score a brace on his World Cup debut, and first since Neymar in 2014. Since his debut for the national side in September 2018, Richarlison has scored more goals in all competitions for Brazil than any other player (19).

Brazil could have scored at least two more goals as shots from Alex Sandro (60’) and Casemiro (81’) hit the post.

The two-goal margin of victory sees Brazil on top of Group G ahead of Switzerland, who beat Cameroon 1-0 earlier today.

Brazil will next face Switzerland on Monday.
